“Raising Dollars for Change Since 2005”

  • Antidote (noun): something that prevents or counteracts injurious or unwanted effects

changemakers are everywhere

From the dreamer who beautifies their neighborhood by painting murals on vacant buildings to the one who empowers youth through civic engagement, the desire to improve our world is palpable. To be sure, the events of 2020 have provided an urgency unlike anything we have experienced in recent history. Yet, desire is not enough. For those in the nonprofit sector, there is a shared understanding that one must do all that they can, while they can, to leave the world better than they found it. If change is to happen, nonprofits must build and maintain their organizational capacity to effectively share their message with a variety of stakeholders.

The world that our children will inherit deserves nothing less.

The Antidote LLC is the solution to help your nonprofit implement proven fundraising and communication strategies to match mission to impact.

Leadership

The Antidote LLC is a culmination of its Head Dreamer in Charge, Tamar Cloyd. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, Tamar has served the nonprofit sector for nearly 20 years, primarily as a grant writer. Raised in a family dedicated to invoking Black Excellence, Tamar understood early on the responsibility that she had in contributing to the collective effort towards the restoration of communities. Her joy and keen attention to detail has left an indelible mark on sustaining and diversifying revenue streams for community-based nonprofits to research universities.

Yet, her greatest accomplishment is raising up three beautiful, compassionate and intelligent young Black men with her late husband, Tyrone (Ty) Cloyd, Jr. She resides in the Cleveland area and is excited to continue Ty’s legacy of bold entrepreneurship and fearless living.

Tamar obtained a bachelor’s degree in Psychology (cognate: Criminal Justice) from Michigan State University and went on to receive a master’s degree in Community Social Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

FAQs

Fundraising is an ongoing need for my organization. Why should I hire a consultant instead of a full-time staff member?

While there are many benefits to hiring a full-time development person, it is often an expensive one. According to Payscale, the average salary for a director of development is nearly $70,000 per annum. This of course does not include any additional benefits expected in a full-time position. For many nonprofits, hiring a full-time development director is simply not an option. This is how The Antidote LLC works to bring cutting-edge fundraising expertise into your organization so that you can get to fulfilling your mission.

My organization is really small. What options does the antidote llc provide for companies with a limited budget?

The Antidote LLC works with nonprofits to not only meet their needs, but to do so within budget. For example, The Antidote LLC can create fundraising (e.g., proposals, letter of inquiry) and marketing templates (e.g., fact sheets, website copy) that can then be modified by your staff, as needed. Interested in building the expertise of your staff? The Antidote LLC is also available to provide onsite training on the art of writing an award-winning grant proposal.
